- Trivia Tribe Leader Website (the "Website")
The App is used for quiz hosting and subscription management, while the Website is primarily intended for host administration and plan purchases.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Personal Information from Hosts:
- Email address and password.
- Name and surname for dashboard personalization and billing identification.
- Quiz hosting details: Date of quiz, venue name, venue suburb, and hosting time.
- Subscription/plan status, purchase history, and receipt validation records (provided by third‑party processors).
- Participant feedback from hosted quizzes.
2.2 Information from Quiz Participants:
- Team name, quiz answers, and feedback provided after quizzes.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to:
- Manage your host account and verify active subscription or plan status.
- Facilitate quiz hosting and display leaderboards.
- Store quiz results and participant data temporarily during events.
- Communicate regarding your account, quizzes, and billing updates.
- Improve our services and content delivery.
4. Legal Basis for Processing (POPIA Compliance)
We process your personal information based on:
- Contractual necessity: To provide the services you purchase.
- Legitimate interests: To improve our services and prevent fraud.

5. How We Share Your Information
5.1 Third‑Party Service Providers:
App:
- RevenueCat: Manages subscription status and validates purchase receipts.
- Supabase (Database Hosting): All App data is stored on secure servers.
- Google/Apple: Handles all payment processing for App subscriptions. We do not store credit card details; these are managed by the respective App Store.
- Subscriptions: Access is provided via auto‑renewable subscriptions. Billing and renewals are managed by Apple or Google. You must manage or cancel these directly through your Store Account settings.
Website:
- Yoco: Handles all payment processing for purchases made through our Website. We do not store or have access to your credit card details. Website purchases are one‑time, non‑renewing plans. You will not be billed automatically, and future access requires a new purchase.
- Supabase (Database Hosting): All Website data is stored on secure servers.
6. International Data Transfers
Your data is stored with Supabase. We ensure that any international data transfers comply with POPIA requirements, ensuring that service providers maintain data protection standards equivalent to South African law.
7. Data Retention
7.1 Host Data:
- Account information: Retained while the account is active.
- Financial records: Retained for 5 years to comply with South African tax and audit requirements.
- Quiz hosting history: Retained until account deletion or anonymization.
7.2 Participant Data:
- Team names, Answers, and Feedback: Retained for up to 1 year for statistics and to determine question difficulty levels.
8. Your Rights Under POPIA
You have the right to access, correct, or request the deletion of your personal information. You may also object to processing or lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa (complaints.IR@justice.gov.za). To exercise these rights, email admin@triviatribe.co.za.
9. Data Security
We implement encryption for sensitive data, secure payment processing through Apple, Google, and Yoco, and strict access controls to prevent unauthorized access.
10. Children's Privacy
- Hosts: (Account Holders): Must be 18 years or older, as they are responsible for managing accounts, payments, and compliance.
- Presenters: Hosts may, at their discretion, allow younger individuals to present or assist with quizzes.
- Participants: All ages are welcome, as quiz content is family‑friendly and not age‑restricted. We collect minimal, non-identifiable information (team names and answers) during active events.
11. Account Deletion and Subscription/Plan Management
11.1 Deletion Process:
- App: Use the Delete Account option within App Settings.
- Website: Visit triviatribe.co.za/delete-account.
11.2 Anonymization:
Upon account deletion, we perform an irreversible de‑identification (anonymization) process. Your name and email are permanently scrubbed. Quiz history is converted into anonymous statistics that can no longer be linked to you.
11.3 Subscription/Plan Management:
App:
- Deleting your account does not automatically cancel your auto‑renewable subscription. Because payments are handled by Apple/Google, you must manually cancel the subscription in your App Store or Google Play settings to stop future billing.
- Use the "Restore Purchases" feature in the App Settings to re‑sync an active subscription if you change devices.
Website:
- Deleting your account immediately ends access to any active plan.
- Because Website purchases are non‑renewing, there is no need to cancel a subscription. Each new plan must be purchased separately.
